Victoria State Emergency Service
Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is a volunteer-based organisation, providing emergency assistance to communities across the state to minimise the impact of emergencies and strengthen the community’s capacity to plan, respond and recover when emergencies occur.
Throughout 2017, Right Lane worked with the VICSES board and executive team to develop the organisation’s 2018-2022 Strategic Plan, including establishing the strategic direction and high-level priorities. Right Lane also worked with a cross functional group to refresh the organisation’s core values and ensure they reflected the culture required to deliver their new plan.
While obligated to meet the requirements of the Gender Equality Act 2020, VICSES was keen to go above and beyond its legislative requirements and to take a leadership position on gender equality in its sector. In 2021 Right Lane supported VICSES by designing and administering a workplace gender equality audit, supporting gender equality capability building among key leaders, and identifying priorities for action. This work used the requirements of the Gender Equality Act as a starting point, but then expanded to include the organisation’s large volunteer base and expanded the focus to real and impactful culture change.
